A Trip to the Zoo

At the beginning of October we headed downstate to see some family and go to the Detroit Zoo. We had never been to the Zoo and thought maybe a cool October day would be a good time to see the animals out and about. Well, it ended up a bit colder than we expected and then Simon got a horrible cold while we were there and was fairly miserable. But other than that it was a fun weekend!

Pictures while we wait for everyone to come in the gate

Riding the train to the back of the zoo

These baboons? were fairly active

The lions were napping but were right in the front of their enclosure

Daddy and Evelyn watching the lions sleep

It was very important for Evelyn to see the flamingos

The black bear came out as we were right in front

Two of the grizzly bear brothers came right out and started playing

Evelyn and Daddy and Aunt Laura and Simon watching the bears

At the kangaroo enclosure we get to walk right through and watch them hop around only it was cold and only one was out and about

A couple of cousins being prairie dogs

It was pretty fun!

The kids were not too impressed with the eagles sitting there, but I thought they looked pretty

Pretty flowers

The Giant Anteaters were running around

Because it was October there were pumpkin animals throughout the zoo

Cold peacock trying to get some french fries

There were lots of seals swimming over the tunnel

Our whole group (minus Simon and I as this was when he fell asleep)

Best picture I could get of the polar bear, he was hiding in the corner

Flamingo pumpkins

Cousins riding frogs (Simon was still sleeping)

Penguin pumpkins

We went into the butterfly house towards the end of our visit

It may not look like it, but Simon was pretty excited when he woke up for the butterflies

We had a great time at the zoo and hopefully I am the only one who got Simon's cold.
